Good illustration draws people in, and entices them to read what's been wrtten. Illustration has the power to bring words to life in a unique way, and, as in the illustration at right shows, need no longer be straight from the artist's brush or pencil. Illustration may be art that's been created on paper then modified on the computer for an effect not possible in either medium!
Because illustration is entirely a product of the imagination, it can be just about anything you can think of! Featured here are several styles of illustration and their possible applications.

Children's Book Illustration
Children's books can be illustrated in any number of ways, in almost any media, including photography. Sometimes, as is shown here, a drawing in rich colored pencil and watercolor pencil can set the tone, begins to tell the story all on its own. Most importantly, the illustration should appropriately complement the story and excite and draw in the young reader.
Please check back soon as I will be re-structuring this area of my web site to show my latest samples of how I bring a children's story to life. If you are in need of an illustrator for children's books, please contact me with your needs.
Concept Illustration
Illustration is particularly useful in expanding or clarifying concepts. These concepts need not always be scholarly subjects, but text books are an ideal opportunity to utilize this type of illustration. This particular drawing was to be used in a text book defining basic principles and dynamics of psychoanalytic processes, and was targeted at an audience learning about the field. If you have a project where illustration would help clarify your text, feel free to contact me.
